Glasses are a therapeutic device Your glasses are a therapeutic device. They are designed to bring you visual comfort and efficiency. They are designed solely for you, and their value lies not in the metal or in the pieces of plastic but in the professional services involved. Good vision can result only from the professional services of examining, refracting and prescribing and/or interpreting, fitting and servicing. When accurately prepared through these professional services, and only when thus prepared, your glasses do their part – for you and you only. Your glasses are not a commodity but a therapeutic device employed when necessary in rendering the professional services involved in helping you to visual comfort and eyesight efficiency. Thanks to professional and scientific advancement, vision in America today is the most efficient in the world. You best safeguard your eyesight by having your eyes examined regularly. Professional Opticians are qualified by years of education and experience to render professional services necessary to bring you visual comfort and efficiency. Their lives are dedicated to the cause of better vision – not merely to the prescribing and/or dispensing of glasses. Proper care for today's Eyeglass lenses and frames It is recommended to wash glasses in a warm solution of baby shampoo and water. PH balanced soap ensures care for the materials your glasses are made from. Having a hard time keeping your glasses clean? Try a couple of drops of baby shampoo in the palm of your hand, add warm water and rub this over the lenses, frame and temples. You can then wash away the dirt and oil buildup from your glasses. Ultra-sonic cleaners are great to clean glasses. A small home version is available at our store and it is great on jewelry as well.
The average prescription from your eye doctor has four components for each eye. The sphere power (distance portion), cylinder (astigmatism), axis (angle in degrees at which the cylinder is placed) and the reading add if needed. When your prescription is presented to your optician each of these parameters is analyzed in preparation for designing the lenses and matching eyewear that supplies both the vision the Dr. had prescribed for you and the look you desire
